Govs at war again as factional gathering meets one week from now, to affirm Mimiko as Chairman

ABUJA- STRONG signs rose yesterday that the emergency which shook the group of the thirty- six state governors under the aegis, Nigeria Governors' Forum, NGF amid previous President Goodluck Jonathan was situated to proceed as the factional gathering which was faithful to previous senator Jonah Jang of Plateau State has altered a meeting for one week from now.


The factional gathering which will have its initially meeting one week from now, would affirm Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo state as the new Chairman of the discussion.


Addressing Vanguard on the improvement, the organizer of the discussion, Earl Osaro Onaiwu who noticed that there have been casual gatherings where around nine of the governors focused in on Governor Mimiko as the new Chairman of the gathering, focused on that a before meeting booked during the current week was retired as the governors were occupied with the transactions and stallion exchanging concerning the decisions of the new authority of the national get together.


Inquired as to whether different governors were not inspired by driving the discussion, the PDP Governors' Forum facilitator said the meeting would figure out whether there was such enthusiasm, including, "Am mindful that around nine of them have officially advocated Mimiko to lead the gathering, in light of the fact that they said they need relentless and composed hands now that the PDP is in resistance."


The factional meeting is advancing scarcely twenty- six days after the meeting of the NGF was held in Abuja with previous Governors Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State and Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom who were at the focal point of the emergency at the meeting, a sign that they have all called a truce and arranged to cooperate as one body.


The governors, made up of the All Progressives Congress, APC and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP met a month ago at the Lagos/ Osun Hall of Transcorp Hilton, Abuja and it was the first of its kind since 2013 when they dropped out, just representative Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State was chosen the Chairman of the discussion and he assumed control from Rotimi Amaechi.


Present at the said meeting were previous governors Akpabio of Akwa Ibom and Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers; Muazu Babangida Aliyu of Niger; Ramallan Yero of Kaduna; Saidu Dankigari of Kebbi; Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta; Isa Yuguda of Bauchi; Governors Adams Oshiomhole of Edo; Rauf Aregbosola of Osun; Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano; Kashim Shettima of Borno; Abiola Ajimobi; Emmanauel Udom of Akwa Ibom; Deputy legislative head of Kogi, Yomi Awoniyi; Deputy legislative head of Nasarawa State and Deputy legislative leader of Imo State.


It will be reviewed that since legislative head of Rivers State and Chairman, Nigeria Governor's Forum, NGF, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi was re-chosen as Chairman of the Forum in May 2013 where he surveyed 19 votes to annihilation representative Jonah Jang of Plateau State, the main senator who challenged with him to score 16, everything was not well with the gathering until what gave off an impression of being a compromise meeting a month ago.


It would be reviewed that Amaechi who led one of the groups, was initially chosen Chairman of NGF in 2011 when he assumed control from previous Kwara State representative and now President of the Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki.


The Nigeria Governors' Forum which was set up to among others, give a gathering to discourse and trade of thoughts, help reinforce and advance Nigeria's government framework and advance comprehension among governors and States, is the umbrella group of all the thirty-six state governors of the alliance.
